The BuildFax Housing Health Report leverages U.S. property condition and history data to provide insights into macro- and microeconomic trends are affecting the U.S. housing market. In July, single family housing authorizations declined for the ninth straight month, however maintenance and remodel activity saw early increases.
Although one month of increases are not a trend, the declines in existing housing activity have been slowing since April. Given the notable spike in maintenance activity this month, BuildFax dug further.
An analysis revealed:
- Roof maintenance activity drove existing housing activity in July, rising 15.97% year over year across the U.S.
- The health of roof maintenance is vital to a structure’s overall risk tolerance.
- Increases in roof-related activity stemmed from severe spring weather in the Midwest and Southeast.
