BuildFax Housing Health Report, October 2019

The BuildFax Housing Health Report leverages U.S. property condition and history data to provide insights into macro- and microeconomic trends affecting the U.S. housing market. In October, BuildFax research revealed housing activity has increased across all major indices.

Single-family housing authorizations rose 2.33 percent year over year in October. While slight, this is the first year-over-year uptick since September 2018. Existing housing construction, which includes maintenance and remodeling, also rose substantially this month.

Meanwhile, on the state-level, California housing activity continued to decrease. However, in Butte and Ventura Counties, which were affected by 2018 wildfires, housing activity is still on the rise.
